Our website’s main goal is to help find Phoenix and bring him home safely. We also want to provide a list of resources for other pet owners searching for a lost/missing pet.
Phoenix is the first pet I’ve had go missing. When he ran out the door and into the woods, I didn’t know about the many resources available beyond PawBoost, Facebook groups, and the local shelter.
Here’s a list of helpful resources we’ve used since February:
Online Missing Pet Communities
PawBoost
- This service alerts people in your area about missing (and found) pets.
- It offers a free missing flyer with your pet’s details.
- You can keep your personal information private, but you can add your phone number if you’re comfortable.
- Paid features include:
- Facebook & Instagram Alerts: Packages for 10, 15, or 20-mile radius for 7 days.
- Featured Pet Spots for City and/or State.
From our experience, Facebook Alerts have been effective in getting community attention.
Petco Love Lost
- This service allows you to add your pet to their database and create a missing flyer.
- You can add up to 4 photos (as of this post) to strengthen your pet’s report.
- The flyer includes a QR code linking to your Lost Pet Report.
- Note that some people may be uncomfortable scanning QR codes.
Pet FBI
- This service lets you add your pet to their lost & found database for free.
Craigslist
- Post about your lost pet in various sections. Be aware that posts expire, requiring regular updates.

Community Resources
General
- Search for Lost + Found and Pets in discussion forums and Facebook groups specific to your city and county. Follow local shelters and humane societies on Facebook and Instagram.
Nextdoor
- Join neighborhood groups and share your pet’s missing flyer and Petco Love Lost Report.
Ring Neighbors
- Use the Ring Neighbors app to alert neighbors about lost pets. This service is free and doesn’t require a Ring Doorbell.
Local Organizations
Digital resources are helpful, but not everyone uses social media. We continue to update PawBoost’s Facebook Alerts monthly and ensure local signs and flyers are posted.
- County Shelter
- Visit regularly and post your pet’s missing flyer if they accept them.
- Animal Control
- Contact for additional support and to send a missing flyer. They may provide useful information about calls in your area.
- Humane Society
- Some humane societies serve as additional shelters for lost pets. Contact them and leave a flyer for your pet.
- Shelters surrounding your county
- Notify shelters outside your county to cover a broader search area. Be aware of “kill shelters” and the need for additional measures if your pet is not microchipped.
This list includes the resources that have been critical during our search for Phoenix. We hope it helps you in your search for your missing pet.
